VSA International Day of Peace Food Giving
“Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.” -Desmond Tutu
On September 21st, the world celebrates the International Day of Peace. It is a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations, peoples and communities. The theme of this year’s celebration was “Partnerships for Peace – Dignity for All” which aimed to encourage societies to work together to strive for peace. Over the past few weeks, the learners of the S.D.A. Primary School have been taking those words to heart and prepared for the International Day of Peace by writing their own peace poems about what peace means to them and organised a campaign to give back to the community. They decided to cook fresh food, to make some healthy snacks and drinks and to hand it out to the children of the Home of Joy orphanage in the Joza Township. It was a very rewarding experience for all and a good lesson about why peace is so important to the country and our communities.
“VetVital & friends” supported this day!
